Apple iPhone 17: Leaks Reveal Major Design, Display, and Feature Upgrades

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series, expected to launch this September, is generating significant buzz, with fresh leaks shedding light on major display upgrades. According to insider reports, all four models in the lineup—including the slim iPhone 17 Air—will feature M14 OLED panels. This marks a significant shift, as it will be the first time Pro and non-Pro iPhones share identical display technology, apart from size differences. The M14 OLED is said to offer a 30% brightness boost over its predecessor while improving energy efficiency and longevity.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, known for his accurate Apple predictions, suggests that the standard iPhone 17 will follow Apple’s usual trend of reserving major advancements for the Pro models. However, one notable upgrade could be the introduction of ProMotion technology to the base models, bringing smoother scrolling and animations—an enhancement long exclusive to the Pro lineup.

The Pro models, meanwhile, are expected to see substantial camera improvements, with all three rear cameras featuring 48-megapixel sensors. Currently, only two of the iPhone 15 Pro’s cameras boast this resolution, while the telephoto lens remains at 12 megapixels. If true, this could enable new imaging capabilities and enhance overall photo quality.

Gurman believes the iPhone 17 will remain a strong contender in Apple’s lineup due to its price-to-performance ratio. However, he suggests that those considering the base model might find the iPhone 17 Air a better option. For a slightly higher price, the Air is expected to offer a lightweight, ultra-thin design with a larger display—potentially making it a compelling alternative to the Pro models.

While the leaks paint an exciting picture of Apple’s next-generation iPhones, details remain subject to change. As the launch date approaches, more concrete information will likely emerge, shaping expectations for Apple’s flagship release of 2025.
